Assistant Conductor & Bassist
Nathaniel Chase is the assistant conductor of the Metro Chamber Orchestra of New York City and appears as a conductor and bassist throughout the tri-state area. Mr. Chase was the conductor of the Westchester Amateur Musicians Orchestra from 2012-16, has appeared as a guest conductor with the South Orange Symphony, the Mimesis Ensemble, and on the New England Conservatory Composers’ Series. He was a conducting consultant on Season 2 of the TV series Mozart in the Jungle, coaching Gael García Bernal, who received a Golden Globe for his performance in that season.
His performances as a bassist range from the standard orchestral repertoire with the Allentown, PA Symphony and Metro Chamber Orchestra to contemporary music with Le Train Bleu and early music with The Sebastians. He is a graduate of the New England Conservatory and the Yale School of Music, where he was a winner of the 2010 Woolsey Hall Concerto Competition.
