Cellist Melody Giron was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. She began her musical studies at four, at the New England Conservatory of Music Preparatory School where she studied cello and voice. An award winning cellist, Melody gave her debut solo performance at the age of ten at the Commander’s Mansion in in Watertown, MA. She has since performed in concert halls in China, Europe, South America, Central America and the United States with orchestras, chamber groups, and as a soloist. Performances include venues such as Carnegie Hall (New York), Symphony Hall (Boston, MA), Jordan hall (Boston, MA) Snape Maltings Concert Hall (Aldeburgh, England), Radio City Music Hall (New York) and Madison Square Garden (New York) among many others. A versatile player, Melody is involved in a diverse array of projects. Since moving to New York City, has been invited as guest principal chair of the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, Rhode Island Symphony, and Contemporary Sax Project. She performed in the Off- Broadway production of The Sandbox at Signature Theatre Company. She performed with Stevie Wonder for crowds of over 35,000 people, at venues like Madison Square Garden, she can be seen in the orchestra section of America’s Got Talent, and is currently featured in a GMC car commercial, airing nationally. Melody recently soloed with the Metro Chamber Orchestra, performing Arbeit Macht Frei by grammy-nominated composer David Chesky. She is frequently invited to lead many NYC orchestras and chamber ensembles. Melody’s summer engagements have included performances at renowned music festivals such as, Britten-Pears Young Artiste Programme (England), Penderecki Academy (Poland/Germany/Netherlands), Aims Graz (Austria), Luslawice Academy Orchestra (Poland), The International Holland Music Sessions (Netherlands), and Siena Music Festival (Italy). Melody has performed in master classes with The Takacs Quartet, Elmar Oliveira, Reinhard Latzko, Eleonore Schoenfeld, Orlando Cole, Charlie Castleman, The Peabody Trio, Dmitri Ferschtman, Benjamin Zander, James Buswell, among many others. Melody earned her bachelor’s degree in cello performance from New England Conservatory of Music in Boston where she studied with Natasha Brofsky. She earned her master’s degree in cello performance from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore under the tutelage of Alan Stepansky.
